Ever wanted to work in a darkroom? Curious about film development? This course is for you!

Darkroom I is designed to introduce individuals with an interest in film photography to the fundamentals of working in a darkroom. Through demonstrations, lectures and hands-on experience, students will address some of the core aesthetic and technical concerns in black and white photography. This includes:

  • Camera technique

  • Proper exposure control

  • Film selection

  • Aesthetic issues

  • Processing and developing prints from their own negatives

Take advantage of one of Ottawa’s ONLY darkrooms and learn the foundations of black and white photography!

  • Students must have a 35mm SLR or medium format film camera. A quantity of film, darkroom chemistry and paper is included in the fee for this course.
