DARKROOM I:
Foundation
Ever wanted to work in a darkroom? Curious about film development? This course is for you!
Darkroom I is designed to introduce individuals with an interest in film photography to the fundamentals of working in a darkroom. Through demonstrations, lectures and hands-on experience, students will address some of the core aesthetic and technical concerns in black and white photography. This includes:
Camera technique
Proper exposure control
Film selection
Aesthetic issues
Processing and developing prints from their own negatives
Take advantage of one of Ottawa’s ONLY darkrooms and learn the foundations of black and white photography!

Students must have a 35mm SLR or medium format film camera. A quantity of film, darkroom chemistry and paper is included in the fee for this course.
