As a part of the Contemporary and Experimental Module, students are introduced to alternative and historic photographic processes, and how they can be used in contemporary photo-based practices. By this point, students will have undertaken an alternative processes workshop by this point in their first year and will be introduced to further alternative and mixed-media printmaking techniques in this module. Students are encouraged to integrate these practices into their own work by pursuing photographic subject matter that they have found compelling over the course of the previous modules but will explore how alternate techniques and forms of printmaking can evolve or enhance a concept.

Students will produce and present a series of 5 works in the image-based medium of their choice. The module concludes with a group critique of the studentʼs work.
