JAMIE POTVIN

Biography

Jamie Potvin is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. At home in the darkroom, they graduated from School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa in 2012. Later attending Concordia University as an undergraduate student for further studies in Studio Arts. Jamie’s practice probes into the tactile ways in which we engage in knowledge creation.  Photo and light-based work permits them to push against the edges of photographic potential, to demonstrate the force images exert on our understanding. They have a studio practice in Montreal, working at the intersection of community projects, drawing, collecting and excavating.


Skillset

  • With years of experience creating and teaching in the darkroom, Jamie is a master of film development and printmaking, and has pioneered and developed several unique processes in their own creative practice.
